Division Colony Principal
Karl Peterson was born and raised in Fort St. John, British Columbia. He is the 2nd of 7 children. After graduating from North Peace Secondary, Karl went to North Carolina for a 2 year LDS mission. He then attended school in Idaho for 2 years and then moved to Utah to continue his education. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Geography and a minor in Public Relations. Karl married Jerri-Lynn Onychuk from Dawson Creek, BC and together they have 5 children. Karl completed his teaching certification from Simon Fraser University and his Master's Degree at Gonzaga University. His teaching career has included all grade levels K-12 in Fort St. John (grades 4-7), Magrath (grades 7-11), Taber (grades 7-12), and at a colony school (grades K-9) near Picture Butte. He was a vice principal for four years at a K-6 school in Fort St. John before moving to Alberta in 2014. He is currently in his fourth year as the Division Colony Principal of the 19 Hutterite colony schools in the Westwind School Division.
His hobbies include a variety of sports, hunting, gardening, working outdoors, and spending time with his family.
