Karl Peterson was born and raised in Fort St. John, B.C. where he graduated from high school and then served a two year LDS mission in North Carolina.  Karl then completed undergrad work in Idaho and Utah before returning to B.C. to obtain his teaching certification from Simon Fraser University.  After several years of teaching, Karl added a Gonzaga University Master's Degree, to his resume.  He has taught grades K-12 in a variety of schools in northeastern BC and in southern Alberta.  Karl was a vice principal for four years at a K-6 school in Fort St. John before moving to Alberta in 2014.  He has been a division colony principal of 19 Hutterite colony schools in the Westwind School Division since 2015.  Karl spends his free time working in his garden, creating diamond willow walking sticks, collecting antique licence plates, and visiting their family’s cabin near Police Lake.  He loves sports and religiously follows BYU basketball and football.  He and his wife, Jerri-Lynn have 5 children (and one grandchild) and reside in Magrath, AB with their two youngest daughters.
